In advance of the launch of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge this weekend, Samsung has posted a “walk down memory lane” video covering 28 years of mobile innovation at the company. From the house brick-like SH-100 way back in 1998 to the current crop of Galaxy devices, Gear smartwatches and the Gear VR, the video makes for a fun reminder of just how much cool stuff Samsung has put out over the years.

It’s hard to imagine – even for someone that was alive back in 1988 – that anyone ever lugged around giant phones like Samsung’s first ever mobile, the SH-100. Not only was the SH-100 the first Samsung mobile phone, it was the first mobile phone to be produced in South Korea, taking two years to develop but selling no more than 2000 units.

When Samsung introduced the first “ultra-light” mobile, the SH-700 in 1993, it was the start of a new era for the company, followed soon after by the SGH-800 flip phone and the world’s first commercially available wristwatch phone, the truly bizarre SPH-WP10. Hard to believe that Samsung had a wearable (of sorts) way back in 1999.

The video then moves onto the world’s smallest TV phone, which hit the market in 2001, the SPH-M2500 MP3 phone (years before the iPod) and on to the modern Galaxy range. But I don’t want to ruin all the fun for you, take a look at the short video for yourself and play spot-the-device. The next generation of Galaxy products will be unveiled this weekend at MWC 2016, so stay tuned for more.

How many of these momentous occasions do you remember? Now, if only the MP3 phone had’ve truly taken off in 1999 the world would be a very different place now…
