Like other utility apps, calendar apps on Android are a dime a dozen. But well designed calendar apps, well those are a little harder to come by. Back in May of last year, we gave you guys a look at Sunrise Calendar, a beautifully designed calendar app for Android devices that synced up with both your Google and iCloud account.
The app seems to have caught the eye of Microsoft who has reportedly purchased the app for upwards of $100 million. Neither side has confirmed anything, so right now we’ll have to take TechCrunch at their word until we get something more concrete.
There were also no details on what would happen to Sunrise — which comes in mobile app, desktop app, or web client form — now that it’s under Microsoft’s wing. Recently Microsoft purchased Acompli only to later rebrand it as the new Outlook, so we’re guessing Sunrise will share a similar story.
